No. Both models are completely self-powered and operate via an inductive pickup. Simply wrap the included pickup wire around the engine spark plug wire (4–5 wraps for B02-H012, or 5–10 wraps for B02-H059). No connection to an external 12V/24V battery, alternator, or vehicle ground is necessary.
